In Memoriam - David Allen Carr
Born: February 2, 1960
Passed: August 24, 2023 (Age 63)
All of us at Watts Specialties have been touched with pain and are mourning the loss of our friend and colleague
David Carr.
David is survived by his wife ReNay Daro Carr, his mother Ann Carr, his sister and brother-in-law,
Tammie and Bruce Elliott.
The Carr family lived in Texas (Houston and Magnolia) until his father accepted an assignment in
Indonesia in 1974, when David was 14 years old. David spent the next four years living and learning in Indonesia,
Singapore, and in his favorite place: Labuan, Sabah, East Malaysia. He attended The Joint Embassy School in
Indonesia and private schools in East Malaysia.
David loved to snorkel and dive in the South China Sea and played golf with the pros at the beautiful Naval
Golf Course on the island of Labuan. These boyhood adventures helped prepare him to meet customers around the globe
as he began to represent Vernon Tool Company in 1985. He lived in Oceanside, California and traveled to the UAE,
Yemen, Singapore, China, Germany, England, Brazil, Mexico and all North America.
David Carr Memorial (continued...)
David was always competitive, and his goal was to "win the bid" - he knew that his product
was the best in the market. As Dave Dunham, recently said, "David was never one to stand on the sidelines,
he was in the thick of it. Whether it was globetrotting for the company or setting
up for a tradeshow."
David was at every tradeshow, welcoming the opportunities to show their equipment and
assuring potential clients that if they purchased the equipment he would personally come to train
their employees. Newcomers to the industry often sought out David because he had started in the
field as a young man in his 20's and was now the "go-to guy." He was a legend!
David passed away on Thursday, August 24th.
You can see in the photos on this page that David was a fun-loving man. We miss our friend and colleague.

David and I worked together for 23 years. He was my closest friend and business partner. From service, to sales, to business partners, we were a great team and shared many accomplishments. We all know David believed in Watts Specialties and was committed to building the company bigger and better. In his honor and in his absence, we are further committed to serving our customers and continuing the success of the company we built together. I miss my friend and colleague and know there will be many times in the coming years when I will laugh out loud...and hear his laughter join me!
